#BlogTour: The Passengers by John Marrs @johnmarrs1 @EburyPublishing @Tr4cyF3nt0n #ThePassengers #5Star

Book Synopsis:

The new gripping page-turning thriller for fans of BLACK MIRROR from the bestselling author of HER LAST MOVE and THE ONE – soon to be a major Netflix series.

When someone hacks into the systems of eight self-drive cars, their passengers are set on a fatal collision course.

The passengers are: a TV star, a pregnant young woman, a disabled war hero, an abused wife fleeing her husband, an illegal immigrant, a husband and wife – and parents of two – who are travelling in separate vehicles and a suicidal man. Now the public have to judge who should survive but are the passengers all that they first seem?

The Passengers is published in ebook on the 1st April 2019 and in paperback on the 30th May 2019. You can pre-order a copy of both using the link below.

My Review:

The Passengers is another exciting thriller from the fiendishly clever mind of the talented John Marrs!

The thing that I most enjoy about this author’s books is how realistic and plausible they seem. The author preys on the reader’s fear of the future and of technology becoming a way to terrorise people. This is done to great effect in this book with the use of self drive cars, which is a fairly recent invention, adding to the reader’s fears that this scenario could actually happen.

There are a lot of varied characters or victims in the book which together covers most of the different groups in society. The reader, and the public in the book, gets to decide what happens to each of the passengers in the car which lays bear some of the assumptions and prejudices that we can make which was a real eye opener. It has definitely made me think about my own views and I’ll work harder not to be so judgemental in future.

This is an incredibly fast paced, addictive book which I just had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. There were lots of twists and turns that were brilliantly executed, taking me completely by surprise. The final twist was especially surprising and I was on the edge of my seat as it all played out.

Huge thanks to Tracy Fenton for inviting me onto the blog tour and to Ebury Publishers for my copy of this book via Netgalley which I received in exchange for an honest review.
